From the town of Ribadesella we can take a pleasant walk to discover this and hermitage and a beautiful landscape. We can access from Loli park (cattle market square) or through the Paseo de la Grúa
The Hermitage is located on Mount Corvero from where we can see the port of Ribadesella. Renaissance chapel from the late sixteenth century, although renovated in 1892, the patron saint of sailors is located there. The building lacks a nave, probably lost in a landslide, and its best preserved element is the magnificent south portal, in which we can still see the original stonework. There was from the 16th to the 19th century, next to the chapel, a fortification with a battery for the defense of the port. The three cannons that are seen there today are part of the history of Rios, were thrown into the sea by the French in their withdrawal from the town in the War of Independence and restored to their original location in 1999. Hermitage and battery are today the best viewpoint to contemplate the town, the mountains that surround the council and the Cantabrian Sea.
In the viewpoint we can see the entire town, the port, the beach of Santa Marina and also all the Indian houses that settled in this fishing village.
